The Alpha - Arianna Green (FULL 50 Chapter)

"Hey Violet," a warm voice greeted me. I gave a small smile to Garret.

It's been about three days since the incident with Derek and I haven't seen him since, not even in the middle of the night when I would wake up, but that's what I asked for. Today I was being released from the hospital and Garret was here to pick me up.

"Hello," I said, my eyes dropping.

"You don't have to lower your eyes in my presence," he reminded me. He told me that often but I couldn't, I was still wary of his presence, especially after the whole Mallory incident. A small part of me wanted to be his friend because he seemed so genuine, but so did Mallory.

I couldn't shake that. But the fact that Garret had a mate brought some reassurance.

"Violet, you ready?" he asked politely. I nodded.

His mate, Hannah, helped as well. We made it to Derek's house, and they stayed to have lunch with me. I wasn't sure if Derek was in the house or not, it was quite. The

cooks served us some sandwiches and macaroni salad. We sat at the table.

Hannah was taller than me with long sleek black hair, a pale complexion, and slanted eyes. She had a fit, slim figure and was dressed in a long, navy dress and a jean jacket. Garret was dressed similarly in dark jeans and a navy shirt.

Lunch was comfortably silent, and they finished after I had, only eating a few bites.

"Violet, are you feeling better?" Garret asked, making conversation.

I silently nodded, and Hannah smiled at me. A phone buzzed right as Garret was going to say something, he pulled out his device and excused himself.

"Sorry girls, I have to see someone," he got up, and smiled at me, and turned to his mate, "I'll be back tonight," he kissed Hannah on the forehead.

She kissed his cheek, "okay, I'll stay here for a few, bye Gare bear," she smiled at him. He opened and closed his mouth, eyes flickering to me before giving a small

smile to Hannah and whispering something in her ear causing her to giggle.

"Bye," he nodded to me and left the table.

Hannah turned back to me and smiled, "he hates when I say that in public," she chuckled. I gave a small smile back and picked up the dishes to take them to the kitchen. "Oh, let me help!"

She took a plate and walked with me, and once a chef saw us, he quickly grabbed the dishes and shooed us away. My face turned pink and Hannah just laughed, dragging us out to the living room.

She sat on the sofa with me, smiling brightly.

"So," she dragged out excited, "how are you and Derek?" she asked.

A sad, small smile formed on my lips.

"Aww," she cooed, her accent slipping on her words. "Why?"

I blushed embarrassed, I went to speak, but no words were coming out.

"I'm sorry if you don't want to talk about it," she assured, "I was just curious."

I nodded, "it's okay..."

"You wanna watch a show? I know a good one, Parks and Rec. on Netflix," she got up and grabbed the remote to the television, turning it on and sitting next to me.

Throughout the show, she would ask me ice-breaker questions and I would respond, I even ended up asking her questions. She was nice and it was refreshing to have another girl around.

"So Vi, if you don't mind me calling you that," I shook my head indicating that it was fine and I didn't have a problem with it, she smiled at me. "So I'm just wondering if you and Alpha slept together?"

I choked on my saliva, my eyes widening, and my cheeks burning as I looked at her.

"I- uh..." I trailed my eyes finding my lap.

"I don't mean to intrude, I'm just wondering, maybe I should've worded it differently," she thought for a second, "have you completed the mate bond?"

"Um, no..." I squeaked out.

"Oh," she mused, "I was just curious because I see you have his mark, I asked Garry but he didn't answer me," she rolled her eyes at the memory.

Something in me felt comfortable with her so I started to tell her.

"Um... he marked me when I was in heat, we didn't... you know," I motioned with hands that caused her to laugh.

"Oh!" she chuckled, "well, I figured when he marked you, the pack kinda felt a shift, but he never announced that he found his mate," she shrugged, "but Garry told me, so I knew, and then the rest figured it out when Mallory was executed."

My mood dampened at the memory of Mallory.

"Oh," it came out soft.

"I'm sorry," she picked up on my somber take on her words, "I didn't mean to... um, so you guys haven't completed the bond?"

"No," I shook my head.

"Oh," she wiggled her eyebrows and I gave her a questionable look. "You know your heat will come back until you guys complete the bond, right?" she gave me a giddy look, excited about the 'girl talk' happening.

I blushed red, "oh, um, I'm not that into s-sexual... things..." I mumbled.

"Oh," she said, and then her eyes lit up like she just remembered something, "oh! That's cool, I'll tell you about how I met Garry one day, and other things. But let me tell you some tea!" she smiled and leaned in.

"Oh, I'm not thirsty," I told her, not wanting her to burden herself with making tea.

She smiled, "no, not that type of tea, I mean like gossip, shady information about people."

"Oh," my cheeks reddened, "are you s-sure, like are the Betas a-allowed to..." I trailed.

"Oh, yeah it's fine, I mean, you're the Luna, so you know," she waved off.

"I... I'm not the Luna," I mumbled.

"Ugh, you will be anyways. I'm so excited to tell you! No one else can know from me because of the Beta Female title and stuff. So while you were in the coma, guess what happened?" she spoke, lowering her voice, and leaning in.

I leaned in as well, intrigued.

"So Lindsay, basically the pack pass-around like got snippy with Derek, and he threatened to kill her for slander!" she exclaimed.

"For what?" I asked, mortified.

"Well, Lindsay is a total bitch, she thinks she's better than everyone just cause she's slept around with people, especially Dere... oh," she studied my reaction.

"It's okay, I a-already know..."

"Okay, well, so she thinks she's the shit right? So rumor has it, nothing was finalized- this is what Garry told me, he said she kept calling and texting him because she's a power-hungry bitch, and he told her 'no' and that he has no interest in her," her eyes widened as her story continued, "so, she didn't like that, and she threatened Derek to 'leak your nudes', as in yours," she pointed at me, and my eyes widened.

My nudes? Naked photos?

"But, I don't have a-any, do you think s-she took some when I was in a coma?" I asked, worried.

"Uff da! Of course you don't have any! Oh please, no. Derek made sure no one touched you, so he knew she was lying. And he told her that she needed to 'stop her fucking shit'," she spoke with finger quotes, "or there would be consequences, but she didn't listen, so she went into your hospital room to try and seduce him!" she looked disgusted, "can you believe that? Is she that dumb coming into your room, but anyways- so he like almost killed her. He was choking her and Garret walked in and pulled him off of her. It was crazy!" she took a deep breath at the end.

I was processing what she just said. He almost killed her? That's crazy.

"Wow," I whispered.

"I know! And, so, just to let you know, Derek hasn't shut up about you, oh my!" my face got warmer at her words, "like, Garry tells me all the time, he's like, whoo..." she mumbled. "Oh! And, jeez, I can't believe I have someone to talk to about this! If I talk too much just let me know! I don't want to intimidate you or anything!"

I quietly shook my head.

"Okay, so another thing that happened! There is this she-wolf that's pregnant, but here's the thing, it's not her husband's! They aren't mates, but it was someone from the Rocky Mountain area!" I didn't really understand that fully and Hannah picked up on that. "I'll explain-"

I heard the door close, flinching, I turned from my position on the sofa to see who came in the door. Derek walked in, looking frustrated. He immediately saw us on the sofa and gave a quick wave to Hannah.

"Hannah," he said flatly.

"Afternoon Derek," she smiled and waved back.

His eyes flicked to mine and I immediately looked to my lap. I heard him sigh, and walk over to us.

"Hannah, are you staying for dinner?" he asked her and sat down on one of the seats.

"Most likely not, Garret went to do some business and he said he'll see me tonight, so I'm probably gonna go back," she explained to Derek.

"Okay, that's fine by me, you guys are welcome over anytime," I felt his gaze on me. "You guys should come over tomorrow for dinner."

"We'd love to!" she smiled.

"Okay, well, I have to make final touches on the ceremony, did you finalize everything with Garret?” he asked, getting up from the seat.

"Yes, we're all good on our end."

"Okay," he nodded and said goodbye, going to the stairs and leaving.

Hannah waited a few moments before she talked, "oh my, that was tense!" she whispered.

I looked up to her, giving a questioning look.

"What happened? He didn't even say 'hi' to you! And you didn't even look at him!" she gasped.

Oh.

"Well," I debated on telling her or not, I ended up telling her, something pulling to confide in her.

"Oh my, I'm so sorry, if I knew I wouldn't have said anything!" she panicked.

"It's okay," I assured her, not wanting her to feel bad.

"Ugh, I'm so sorry Vi!" she gave a sad smile to me, "um, well..." she thought for a second of something to talk about to change the uncomfortable topic, "oh! I don't think anyone has told you about the ceremony yet, right?"

I shook my head 'no'.

She smiled, "well, it'll be in three days, we are putting final touches on everything and it's the Second Leading ceremony, where we will officially name Garret the Beta, and I guess myself Beta female, but I don't really care about that," she explained.

"You haven't had the c-ceremony yet?" I asked.

"No, Garry wanted to wait for you to wake up till we had the ceremony and of course Derek agreed," an embarrassed pink colored my cheeks.

"Oh," I mumbled.

We finished up, watching a few more episodes till she said she had to go, it was getting late. We said our goodbyes and she told me she can't wait for dinner tomorrow. I liked her, though trust issues were holding me back, I still liked her.

...Sage?...

I called out, trying to access my wolf, but I got no response.

I sighed and pulled myself upstairs. I brushed my teeth, my hair, and changed into covering pajamas. I got thirsty so I went downstairs and got a water bottle, going back to my room.

Walking down the hallway, I stopped when someone called my name. Not just someone, Derek.

My heart sped up and I slowly turned around. He was calmly walking to me, dressed in sweatpants and a light blue shirt making his eyes pop out. I didn't know where to look, so I looked down at my sock covered feet.

"Violet," Derek called, I looked up to see him a few feet in front of me. He looked tired, his hair was disheveled, and he had small bags under his eyes.

"Yes," I cautiously spoke.

He sighed, relieved at the fact that I spoke to him. "Violet, listen this might be a lot to ask, and I know you said I should leave you alone but, please Flower, can I sleep with you tonight?" he asked.

My eyes widened, cheeks burned and my mouth parted in shock.

"I, um..." I trailed.

"I understand if it's a no, I just..." he paused, "I don't know how your wolf is feeling during all of this, mine is restless and I am as well, I just... please?" he desperately let

out.

My heart throbbed at his tone, I threw my bitterness towards him out the window for a moment. I'm not forgiving him. I can't be rude to him, he's hurting, that's not right. It might be hypocritical but-

"I promise I won't try anything," he added, easing me.

I shyly nodded looking down, "okay...

He muttered something under his breath, "oh, thank you Violet!" he told me.

I nodded again and turned to walk to my room, he followed behind, and when I got to the door he opened it for me. I gave a small smile and walked in.

"Um you can g-get ready, I'm just g-going to finish up," I told him and set my water bottle on the nightstand and walked into the bathroom.

I closed the door and washed my face, still with no mirror to see how I looked. I reached under the sink, grabbed some bandages, and wrapped my wrists, as instructed by Reseda. They weren't healing, they were dark, and a thin layer of skin covered them, Reseda explained that my healing was slow and Selene told this would happen because of Sage in shock.

I walked out of the bathroom, turning off the light, and turned off the bedroom light. I carefully made my way to my side of the bed, making sure not to run into anything. I crawled under the covers. It was dark.

I laid down and closed my eyes. It was quiet for a moment.

"Flower," Derek whispered, cautious if I was asleep.

"Yes?" I whispered back.

"Can you come over, I want to hold you. If that's okay with you," he asked.

I shyly shuffled to where he was and laid next to him, my head by his shoulder.

It was again quiet.

"What's your favorite color?" he asked in a hushed tone.

It seemed odd that the same man who berated me wanted me to lay by him and tell me about my favorite things.

"Blue," I rushed out. He wrapped one of his arms around my shoulder and rubbed it.

"Mine is brown, if you aren't comfortable, just let me know," he responded.

"I'm g-good," I was quietly debating on asking the next question, apprehension filling me.

"You can ask me whatever Flower, I won't mind," he picked up on my feeling.

"I just don't want to c-cross a boundary," I explained.

"It's fine, Honey," he assured me, giving my arm a light, reassuring squeeze.

No, I'm not gonna ask. We aren't even that close.

"No, it's fine, I'll a-ask another time, um... what's your favorite food," I asked, changing subjects.

He turned me so he was spooning me, my back pressed to his chest, arm warped around my waist.

"Hamburger hotdish, yours?" he said, lowering his voice. "Is this okay? Don't hesitate to tell me, I don't want to make you feel uncomfortable."

I shyly nodded. My hands mindlessly traced patterns on his hands, "I like..." I thought, not ever really having the luxury when it came to preferring a certain food, "I don't really have a-a preference.." I mumbled, my eyes getting heavy.

He hummed. "Do you have any hobbies?"

"I like to c-cook..." My breathing became even and I was slipping into a slumber.

"Goodnight Flower," he whispered as he kissed my forehead.

"Nigh..." I didn't finish my sentence as I slipped under, but right before I was consumed by the blackness I heard Derek:

"I'm so sorry my Flower..."
